Julie Jackson-Schmidt

Julie Jackson-Schmidt’s career in talent management and leadership development spans nearly two decades and a variety of positions, in multiple organizations. She’s been an executive and a practitioner. She’s done it all from delivering off-the-shelf training programs to creating talent management strategies to offering one-on-one coaching about specific challenges.

It’s that last one that gets her most excited to go to work every day.

“When you are working closely with people, you can almost see the shift when they discover something new about themselves. That moment when they realize they can try a new behavior to manage issues and overcome challenges. That moment they know they can change and improve. I love helping people get to that ah-ha moment,” she says.

Building leadership confidence—not just skills

Through the years, one thing became clear to her. The one-time leadership training programs that so many organizations rely on just weren’t enough to cultivate the type of confidence, change in behavior and resilience leaders need to excel in leadership. They tend to provide one-size-fits all tips and tactics that don’t work for every organization or person.

That sparked a desire in her to offer a more personal, customized approach to leadership development. 

The decision to move into consulting was inspired by the amazing leaders she supported. Leaders at every level in the organization who wanted to know themselves better and had a deep desire to improve.

She wanted to help them—and others like them—with coaching that would allow them to reach their full potential.

In 2016, she started Julie Jackson-Schmidt Consulting to do just that.

Julie has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Texas A&M University and a Masters in Human Resource Management from Houston Baptist University. She lives in Houston, Texas with her husband, her sons and an energetic chocolate lab. When Julie isn’t coaching, she loves to read, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
